Why would an all loving God do nothing to stop a huge catastrophe like the oil spill?

My thoughts of a supreme being creating male/female then create chaos I can't for the life of me thing he would create sin just to go save the world by being nailed to the cross. Since I dropped out of relgion people tell me I'm going to hell. Why would parents follow a being that is going to take your child and use them for firewood. Religions have turned God into a tyrant. I seriously doubt he exists but I can wait and see what death brings. .
