Is this fair? Am i being mean?

I have this friend that I have known for a few years that lives closer to me than others. She is not the closest of my friends. Whenever I have any friends over or we make plans, my mom says I must invite her. This makes me be with her very often, being a middle schooler, I get very annoyed and agitated if I am forced to be with her. I explained this to my mom, and that she is not my best friend (my mom thinks so becase she is her favorite) I also begin to think she is annoying and I get bored with her very quickly. I am now grounded for talking to my mom about this, any opinions?
