How do humans affect the enviorment?

Humans with their building of cities create a local heating effect as the sun heats up concrete and building materials and air conditioners and other energy uses generate heat. This is called the "heat island effect" and is why some who go by temperature readings taking in urban areas claim the climate is heating up but it is only a local effect.
