I am studying in Australia.For my transportation for work is it advisable to buy a car?

If I have to buy a car, it should be for my exclusive usage. So it must be small and should have resale value. Many times I have to change 2 buses and I have to walk long distances involving nearly 2 hours to go to my work place. And after the work is over there will be no buses at all. I have to catch a taxi and the charges eat away most of my earnings.
